<p>The Blood Centre, Navodaya Medical College Hospital &amp; Research Centre, Raichur, in association with the Department of Community Medicine, organized a “Blood Grouping and Voluntary Non-Remunerated Blood Donation Awareness Camp” on 10 April 2026 at 10:00 AM at SSRG Arts &amp; Commerce College for Women, Raichur.</p>
<p>The program was conducted within the college premises with enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members. The primary objective of the camp was to create awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation, dispel myths and misconceptions related to blood donation, and motivate students to become regular voluntary blood donors.</p>
<p>The program commenced with a formal welcome and introduction of the speakers by <strong>Dr. Roopakala, Assistant Professor</strong>, Department of Community Medicine, Navodaya Medical College, Raichur.</p>
<p>This was followed by an informative talk on the importance of voluntary blood donation delivered by <strong>Dr. A. S. Aanand, Vice Principal, Professor &amp; Head, Department of Pathology. </strong>He highlighted the life-saving significance of timely blood donation and emphasized the urgent need for voluntary non-remunerated blood donors to strengthen the healthcare system and ensure adequate blood availability for patients in need.</p>
<p>Subsequently, <strong>Dr. Arshiya, Professor,</strong> Department of Community Medicine, delivered a session on blood groups and common myths and misconceptions associated with blood donation. The session addressed prevalent fears among students and helped clarify scientific facts regarding the safety and benefits of blood donation.</p>
<p>A detailed presentation on blood components and their clinical significance was delivered by <strong>Dr. Prasanna N, Associate Professor &amp; Medical Officer, Blood Centre.</strong> He explained the medical importance and therapeutic uses of various blood components such as packed red blood cells, platelets, and plasma, highlighting how a single unit of donated blood can benefit multiple patients.</p>
<p>An interactive session followed the lectures, during which students actively participated by asking questions. The resource persons addressed these queries, making the session highly engaging and informative.</p>
<p>As part of the camp activities, blood grouping of <strong>150 students</strong> was carried out successfully. In addition, <strong>25 students</strong> voluntarily registered their names as potential blood donors during the camp.</p>
<p>The program concluded successfully with positive feedback from students and faculty, reflecting increased awareness and a strong willingness among participants to support and participate in voluntary blood donation initiatives.</p>

<p>As a part of continuing medical education among health professionals, the Department of Ophthalmology, Navodaya medical college hospital &#038; research centre (NMCH&#038;RC), Raichur has organised “Cornea Update: Keratoconus and Contact Lens” on 28th December 2025 from 8am to 5pm in Dr S.R. Hegde Silver Jubilee auditorium hall, Navodaya Campus.</p>
<p>The Programme started after a brief inauguration ceremony. The inaugural function was presided by Dr Arun K N, Medical Superintendent,Navodaya Medical College Hospital &#038; Research Centre, Raichur. Dr T. Srinivas, Registrar, Navodaya Education Trust was guest of honour. Dr Anupama Taklikar, Organizing Chairperson, HOD, Department of Ophthalmology, NMCH&#038;RC and Guest Speakers were among the other dignitaries on the dais. Dr Narayana Pendlikal, RMO, NMCH&#038;RC, Dr Sharanabasamma, Professor, Dept of Ophthalmology, NMCH&#038;RC, Dr Reshma, Professor, Dept of Ophthalmology, NMCH&#038;RC and HODs of various departments were among the other dignitaries.</p>
<p>Around 100 delegates from different medical colleges including practising Opthalmologists across Karnataka attended the CME/Workshop. Dr Shwetha G, Senior Resident, Department of Ophthalmology, NMCH&#038;RC welcomed the gathering. Dr Kanchana B K, Assistant Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, NMCH&#038;RC welcomed the guest speakers Dr Maneesha Mohan B, Consultant (Cornea,Phaco and Refractive Services),Narayana Nethralaya, Bengaluru and Mr DSV RamKumar, Contact Lens Consultant, Central Eye Care, Vizag. Presidential address was delivered by Dr T. Srinivas and Dr Arun K N.</p>
<p>Dr T. Srinivas spoke about prevention of blindness and asked delegates to utilise the knowledge gained through such scientific events in educating the general public regarding prevention of ocular diseases and for better patient care. Dr Arun KN briefed about keratoconus and asked delegates to make better use of this CME/Workshop. Dr Vadikari Lavan Kumar, Organising Secretary, Senior Resident, Department of Ophthalmology, NMCH&#038;RC, proposed the vote of thanks.</p>
<p>Dr Maneesha Mohan shared her valuable knowledge on Diagnosis and Recent advances in the management of Keratoconus. She briefed about pediatric keratoconus.<br />Mr RamKumar delivered informative lecture on different types of Contact lens in Keratoconus management. Later in the day during workshop he explained contact lens selection and live demonstrated fitting of different types of contact lenses.</p>
<p>Ophthalmologists from various parts of Karnataka,Telangana and Andhrapradesh, Postgraduates of department of Ophthalmology and Optometrists from NMCH&#038;RC Raichur, RIMS Raichur, GIMS Gulbarga, BMC&#038;RC (VIMS) Ballari and KBNU Gulbarga and ophthalmic officers/optometrists from Raichur district actively participated in CME/Workshop. Mr Ramkumar shared his insights regarding career options in the field of Optometry with the delegates who are pursuing Optometry.</p>
<p>During Valedictory function Dr Arun K N congratulated Faculty and Postgraduates of Department of Ophthalmology, NMCH&#038;RC successfully organising the event. Dr Anupama T thanked the Management of NET, Raichur and Delegates on success of this event.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h3><strong>With reference to the above subject, on the occasion of “NATIONAL NUTRITION WEEK 1–7 Sept 2025’’, under the guidance of Dr. Boramma G, Professor &amp; Head, Department of Community Medicine, organized the following health awareness activities:</strong></h3>

<p><strong>1.</strong> Health talk on Nutrition – At Agriculture Engineering College, Raichur- Dr. Roopakala N and Interns gave talk about Nutrition and its effect on Health. Awareness was created among students by showing food items and gave information about Front of Package Labelling about snack items (01-09-2025).</p>
<p><strong>2.</strong> Health awareness and skit was performed by Interns about -Eat Right for Better Life at Mitti Malkapur Subcentre to the local people and ASHA workers on 3-09-2025.</p>
<p><strong>3.</strong> Health awareness activity was conducted at Rural (04-09-2025) and Urban (08-09-2025) field practice area about Nutrition and motivated them in practicing Healthy lifestyle and improving their health on locally available foods at Singanodi and Ashapur road Raichur Respectively by Dr. Roopakala N and Dr. Sujatha N.</p>
<p><strong>4.</strong> Health talk by Dr. Sujatha and Skit was performed by Interns on “Effects Healthy lifestyle on Students life” at Race Chanukya School, Raichur for 7th and 8th students on 11-09-2025. Motivated students in choosing healthy foods instead of junk foods.</p>
<p><strong>5.</strong> Health awareness talk and skit was performed in J Mallapur Subcentre to local people and ASHA workers about Nutrition and its effect on Health by Interns on 10-09-2025. Educated them on practicing healthy lifestyle and how they can introduce locally available nutritious food into their mea</p>

<p><strong>1.</strong> A health talk was given by Dr. Boramma G to pharmacy students on 1&#8243; December on AIDS its early detection and awareness on early detection and prompt treatment</p>
<p><strong>2.</strong> A health rally was organized in collaboration with Health Department Raichur, which started from DHO office till teen khandil, Community medicine intems and Pg&#8217;s participated in the rally</p>
<p><strong>3.</strong> Health Awareness talk was given by Dr laxmi on 4 December at Justice shivraj patil PU College where 1 and 2nd year PU students were made aware of world AIDS day, its early detection and prompt treatment myths and misconceptions regarding AIDS</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p data-start="878" data-end="1178">In observance of <strong data-start="895" data-end="922">World Diabetes Day 2025</strong> on <strong data-start="926" data-end="943">15th November</strong>, a series of health awareness programs were conducted under the guidance of <strong data-start="1020" data-end="1076">Dr. Boramma G, HOD, Department of Community Medicine</strong>, to educate the community on diabetes prevention, early detection, and healthy lifestyle practices.</p>
<p data-start="1180" data-end="1385">On <strong data-start="1183" data-end="1204">3rd November 2025</strong>, a <strong data-start="1208" data-end="1222">radio talk</strong> by <strong data-start="1226" data-end="1259">Dr. Boramma G and Dr. Pavan K</strong> focused on diabetes awareness, emphasizing the role of physical activity and diet in preventing diabetes from an early age.</p>
<p data-start="1387" data-end="1803">On <strong data-start="1390" data-end="1412">15th November 2025</strong>, <strong data-start="1414" data-end="1430">Dr. Pratibha</strong> conducted a health awareness session in coordination with the medical officer, staff nurse, and ASHA workers at the <strong data-start="1547" data-end="1587">family-adopted village in Sidrampura</strong>. Local residents were educated on the importance of diet, myths and misconceptions regarding diabetes, early detection, and timely treatment. A total of <strong data-start="1741" data-end="1768">35 people were screened</strong> for diabetes during the program.</p>
<p data-start="1805" data-end="2085">Additionally, <strong data-start="1819" data-end="1837">IEC activities</strong> were carried out in the field practice areas of <strong data-start="1886" data-end="1916">Singanodi and Ashapur Road</strong> on <strong data-start="1920" data-end="1951">11th and 13th November 2025</strong>, focusing on the importance of <strong data-start="1983" data-end="2005">World Diabetes Day</strong>, early detection, and organizing <strong data-start="2039" data-end="2058">screening camps</strong> for the local community.</p>
<p data-start="2087" data-end="2291">These initiatives successfully raised awareness among the community about diabetes prevention, the significance of early detection, and the adoption of healthy lifestyle practices to combat the disease.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p data-start="250" data-end="749">In observance of <strong data-start="267" data-end="299">World Mental Health Day 2025</strong> on <strong data-start="303" data-end="319">October 10th</strong>, a series of health awareness programs were organized in <strong data-start="377" data-end="388">Raichur</strong> under the theme <strong data-start="405" data-end="466">“Access to Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies”</strong>. The initiatives were guided by <strong data-start="499" data-end="555">Dr. Boramma G, HOD, Department of Community Medicine</strong>, and aimed at educating students and local communities about the importance of mental health, reducing stigma associated with mental illness, and promoting timely access to professional help.</p>
<p data-start="751" data-end="1185">On <strong data-start="754" data-end="774">October 10, 2025</strong>, <strong data-start="776" data-end="812">Dr. Pavan K, Associate Professor</strong>, delivered a health talk to <strong data-start="841" data-end="897">women students at First Grade Women’s Degree College</strong>, focusing on early warning signs of mental health issues, their causes, impact on individuals, families, and society, and practical stress management techniques. The session included interactive discussions on self-care, coping strategies, and available mental health helpline numbers.</p>
<p data-start="1187" data-end="1621">On <strong data-start="1190" data-end="1210">October 11, 2025</strong>, <strong data-start="1212" data-end="1246">Dr. Radha, Assistant Professor</strong>, conducted awareness sessions at <strong data-start="1280" data-end="1301">UHTC Ashapur Road</strong>, highlighting the importance of mental health, ways to reduce stigma, and encouraging individuals to seek timely help. Interns also participated in community outreach, delivering mental health talks to local residents at the <strong data-start="1527" data-end="1559">Rural Health Training Centre</strong> in collaboration with CHOs, staff nurses, and ASHA workers.</p>
<p data-start="1623" data-end="1921">Additionally, <strong data-start="1637" data-end="1655">IEC activities</strong> were carried out at <strong data-start="1676" data-end="1690">U Khanapur</strong>, aimed at spreading awareness about mental health, early identification of psychological issues, encouraging timely help-seeking behavior, and disseminating information on government mental health programs and helpline services.</p>
<p data-start="1923" data-end="2153">These initiatives collectively empowered students and the community with knowledge, tools for stress management, and resources for mental health support, reinforcing the message that mental well-being is a priority for everyone.</p>

<p data-start="161" data-end="355">The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology organized a <strong data-start="217" data-end="326">guest lecture on “Management of Traumatic and Atonic Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH) by Two Novel Techniques”</strong> on <strong data-start="330" data-end="352">12th November 2025</strong>.</p>
<p data-start="357" data-end="744">The session was delivered by <strong data-start="386" data-end="479">Dr. Ramalingappa C Antarathani, MD (OBG), Professor and Former Director of KIMS, Hubballi</strong>, who shared his extensive expertise in managing complex cases of PPH. The lecture focused on <strong data-start="573" data-end="626">innovative approaches to traumatic and atonic PPH</strong>, highlighting practical techniques, clinical protocols, and evidence-based strategies to improve maternal outcomes.</p>
<p data-start="746" data-end="922">This academic session provided valuable learning for <strong data-start="799" data-end="853">faculty, postgraduate students, and clinical staff</strong>, enhancing their knowledge and skills in obstetric emergency care.</p>

<p data-start="193" data-end="471">The <strong data-start="197" data-end="240">Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology</strong> actively participated in the <strong data-start="270" data-end="311">35th Annual State Conference of KSOGA</strong>, held in <strong data-start="321" data-end="338">November 2025</strong>, hosted by the <strong data-start="354" data-end="398">Tumkur Obstetrics and Gynecology Society</strong> and the <strong data-start="407" data-end="468">Department of OBG, Sri Siddhartha Medical College, Tumkur</strong>.</p>
<p data-start="473" data-end="863"><strong data-start="473" data-end="497">Dr. Durgadas Asranna</strong> served as the <strong data-start="512" data-end="538">Organising Chairperson</strong> for the conference. The department was represented by <strong data-start="593" data-end="624">Dr. Rita D, Professor &amp; HOD</strong>, along with <strong data-start="637" data-end="666">six postgraduate students</strong>. Among them, <strong data-start="680" data-end="729">three postgraduates presented research papers</strong> and <strong data-start="734" data-end="775">three postgraduates presented posters</strong>, demonstrating the department’s strong academic engagement and research contribution.</p>
<p data-start="865" data-end="1021">This participation provided valuable exposure to current advances in obstetrics and gynecology, fostering knowledge exchange and professional development.</p>
