About

The Department of Dermatology is a branch of Medicine Specialty that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the skin.

Dermatology department is a full-fledged speciality with adequate staff available for teaching and training of MBBS students, and for care of patients suffering from Skin Diseases, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Leprosy.
Under graduate and post graduate focused teaching is given high priority Regular post graduate case presentation, journal club meeting and seminars held Histopathological discussions and demonstration under taken Ward rounds and bedside teaching – another hallmark The patients are well cared for both in OPD and in the hospital Specialized examination by woods lamp and skin biopsy regularly done Procedures like Fractional Co2, Phototherapy, chemical peels, Radio frequency, electrocautery, dermarollers, cryotherapy, comedone extraction, molluscum body evacuation and chemical cautery are done regularly

Conference

CUTICON KN 2010

  • The first annual state conference of the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists & Leprologists of Karnataka State branch was organized by Department of Dermatology, Navodaya Medical College, Raichur on 23rd and 24th October, 2010. The two day conference provided ample opportunities for Dermatologists to meet and discuss current and future issues in Dermatology specialty; in the field of practice, research and academics. The conference attracted very good attendance of 510 delegates including post graduate students from all over Karnataka. The conference was inaugurated by Dr.SDN Gupta, National President Elect and Presided by Shri.S.R.Reddy, Chairman, Navodaya Education Trust ®, Raichur. The conference resulted in exciting exchange of information on current developments in dermatology specialty and their future developments with 40 scientific papers and 13 poster presentations.
  • Topics were presented through state-of-the-art lectures, panel discussions and poster presentations. There was a trade exhibition with 45 stalls displayed the latest in systems, pharmaceuticals and equipment relevant to Dermataology. There were guest lectures on Dermato Sugery & Pediatric Dermatology covering the common & rare diseases of skin.Dr.Shivakumar and Dr.Rajendran Oration was delivered by Dr.Sachhidanand and his speech was on Life style dermatosis. Dr.JN Shetty oration was delivered by Dr. Nanda Kishore and he delivered the lecture on treatment of leprosy.
  • There was an interesting session on “Pearls for Successful Practice” by senior colleagues and the session was conducted in kannada. The new president Dr.Ramesh Bhat in his concluding remarks mentioned that the scientific program was of good caliber and the conference was well organized. The IADVL has given the credit of 03 hrs for the CME.
