With the able guidance & counsel from the Hon’ble Chairman, Navodaya Education Trust (NET), Sri. S. R. Reddy Sir, a one day “CME & Workshop on Decoding Leukaemia through Flow Cytometry” was organized on 28th August 2026 by the Department of Pathology, Navodaya Medical College, Raichur at Dr.C. M. Gurumurthy Hall, NMCH&RC.

The scientific sessions began at 9:00 AM and the inaugural function was held at 11:00 AM.

The inaugural function was presided by Dr. Gurudatta S. Pawar, Dean/Principal, Navodaya Medical College. Dr. T. Srinivas, Registrar, N.E.T and Dr. Arun K. N., Medical Superintendent, NMCH&RC were the guests of honor. Dr. Aanand A.S., Program Director, Professor and H.O.D. Dept of Pathology and Dr. Venkatesh M. Patil, KMC Observer were among the other dignitaries on the dais.

Dr A. S. Aanand, Program Director and Professor & HOD, Pathology welcomed the gathering and briefed about the CME and the clinical relevance of Flow Cytometry in diagnosis of leukemia.

Dr. T. Srinivas, Registrar, N.E.T, expressed the need for enhanced techniques like Flow Cytometry and others in the routine work up of leukemia patients enabling their optimal and timely management.

Dr. Gurudatta S. Pawar, Dean/Principal, Navodaya Medical College delivered the Presidential remarks advocating Flow Cytometry and other sophisticated diagnostic investigations in tertiary care institutes like Navodaya Medical College for detection of leukemias.

Dr Keerti Sahi, Assistant Professor, Department of Pathology, proposed the vote of thanks.

Scientific Sessions

The scientific event was quite successful by the orations given by eminent Resource persons with versatile experience in the field of Leukemia, Haematopatholgy and Flow Cytometry.

Dr. Sandeep K.S.,Medical Oncologist, RGSSH OPEC, Raichur spoke about the clinical pearls for early leukemia diagnosis; Dr Gatyathri K, Consultant Haematopathologist, Tapadia Diagnostic Centre, Hyderabad, briefed regarding morphological aspects and clinical management of leukemia; Dr. Faiq Ahmed, Consultant Haematopathologist, Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute, enlightened regarding Leukemia diagnosis based on WHO integrated approach; and Mr. Karuna Kumar, Senior Application Specialist, Waters Biosciences, conducted workshop with a simulation procedure using a Virtual Flow Cytometer.

The workshop was followed by Case Discussions on interesting cases by the eminent haematopathologists.

Participation and Learning Outcomes

A total number of around 180 delegates from various medical colleges and hospitals from 5 different states (Karnataka, Telangana State, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu) attended this CME and Workshop and were enlightened by the interactive Scientific sessions.

Postgraduate students, consultants and others were thoroughly educated about the Flow Cytometry technique and the clinical applications of the same in the diagnosis and classification of leukemia.

The scientific event concluded with valedictory function at 5:00 PM, chaired by Dr. Gurudatta S. Pawar, Dean/Principal, NMC, Dr A. S. Aanand, Program Director and Professor & HOD, Pathology, Vice Principal, NMC and the Resource persons.

The conduction of the entire event was highly appreciated by the assembled delegates and special invitees.

Karnataka Medical Council Accreditation

Having conducted “CME & Workshop on Decoding Leukemia through Flow Cytometry”, Karnataka Medical Council, Bengaluru has provided an accreditation of “2 credit hours” to all the registered delegates and additional credit hours to the Resource persons.

As a part of continuing medical education among health professionals, the Department of Ophthalmology, Navodaya medical college hospital & research centre (NMCH&RC), Raichur has organised “Retina Update : Workshop” on 8th August 2026 from 8am to 5pm in Dr C. M. Gurumurthy Hall, Navodaya Medical College Hospital.

The Programme started after a brief inauguration ceremony. The inaugural function was Chaired by Dr T. Srinivas, Registrar, Navodaya Education Trust (NET) & Dr Gurudatt S Pawar, Dean & Principal, Navodaya Medical College. Dr Arun K N, Medical Superintendent, Navodaya Medical College Hospital, Dr A. S. Anand, Vice Principal, Navodaya Medical College, Dr Anupama Taklikar, Organizing Chairperson, HOD, Department of Ophthalmology, NMCH&RC, Dr Siddesh Kumar H, KMC Observer were among the other dignitaries on the dais. Dr Narayana Pendlikal, RMO, NMCH&RC, Dr Narayanappa, Deputy RMO, NMCH&RC, Faculty of Ophthalmology department – Dr Sharanabasamma, Professor, Dr Reshma, Professor, Dr Lavan Kumar, organizing Secretary, Assistant professor, Dr Kanchana BK, Assistant professor, Dr Vaibhav, Cornea consultant, Dr Shwetha G, Senior Resident, Dr Apoorva D, Senior Resident and HODs & Faculty of various departments were among the other dignitaries.

Dr Srinivas T has addressed the gathering. He congratulated the department of Ophthalmology for choosing such topics which requires awareness among medical professionals and general public. Presidential address was delivered by Dr Gurudatt S Pawar.

Guest speakers Dr Neha Sudhakar P, Susheela NethralayaKurnool ; Dr Nithin Teja G, Nithin Hospital, Mahabubnagar and Dr Nanda Sadanand, Pujari Hospital, Raichur delivered extensive and informative lectures regarding Retinal vascular occlusions, Retinal detachment and recent advances in their management.

Later on workshop was conducted on B-scan, OCT interpretation and fundus diagram.

Ophthalmologists from various parts of Karnataka,Telangana and Andhrapradesh, Postgraduates of department of Ophthalmology from various medical colleges, interns and final MBBS students of Navodaya Medical College actively participated in CME/Workshop.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Navodaya Medical College Hospital & Research Centre (NMCHRC), Raichur, successfully organized the “Gynae Imaging Masterclass – From Probe to Precision”, a first-of-its-kind Hands-on Pelvic Ultrasound (USG) Workshop in North Karnataka. The Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme was conducted on 2nd August at Gurumurthy Hall, NMCHRC Building, Raichur, with 2 KMC credit points approved. The event was organized in association with the Medical Education Unit, NMC Raichur, and in collaboration with the Raichur Obstetrics and Gynecological Society (ROGS) and the Imaging Committee of KSOGA.

The programme aimed to enhance the knowledge and practical skills of postgraduate students, faculty members, and practicing gynecologists in the field of gynecological ultrasound imaging. The CME featured expert lectures, live demonstrations, and extensive hands-on training sessions designed to improve diagnostic accuracy and imaging techniques in gynecology.

The academic sessions commenced with a lecture on “Relevance of Ultrasound in Gynecology” delivered by Dr. Harish Babu, Professor, and Dr. Pavan Kumar, Associate Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Navodaya Medical College Hospital, Raichur. This was followed by an insightful session titled “Know Your Machine: Knobology for Optimal Imaging” by Dr. Aditi V. Jadhao, Consultant Radiologist, NG Imaging and Diagnostic Centre, Bangalore.

Following the inaugural ceremony and tea break, Dr. Raju Giraddi, Chairperson, Imaging Committee (KSOGA) and Consultant Gynecologist, Bettadur Hospital, conducted an in-depth session on “Pelvic Imaging: Foundations of TVS – A Systematic Approach”, covering the fundamentals of transvaginal sonography and structured imaging protocols. Participants also benefited from a live demonstration of gynecological ultrasound, providing practical insights into image acquisition and interpretation.

After the lunch break, the programme continued with a workshop briefing followed by an intensive Hands-on Workshop conducted by Dr. Aditi V. Jadhao, Dr. Raju Giraddi, Dr. Shruthi, Dr. Niveditha, and Dr. Siddiqua. The practical sessions enabled participants to gain firsthand experience in performing pelvic ultrasound examinations under expert guidance.

The workshop concluded with a valedictory function and high tea. The CME programme was highly appreciated by participants for its comprehensive academic content, interactive learning approach, and practical training opportunities. The event marked a significant step toward strengthening ultrasound imaging skills among gynecology professionals and promoting excellence in women’s healthcare services in the region.

Raichur, August 2: Navodaya Medical College, Raichur, successfully organised the “Nasha Mukth Bharat Yuva Shuddhi Abhiyaan – Nasha Mukth Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan”, a nationwide anti-drug awareness programme jointly organised by the Dishabodh Sustainable Community Development Foundation and the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka. Navodaya Medical College was one of the selected institutions in Karnataka to host this prestigious national programme.

The programme commenced with Vande Mataram, the National Anthem and Nada Geete, followed by the welcome address. Dr. Gurudatta S. Pawar, Dean, Navodaya Medical College, administered the Nasha Mukth Bharat Pledge, during which hundreds of students, faculty members and staff pledged to remain free from substance abuse and to actively promote a drug-free society. The participants later witnessed the live address of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, under the Nasha Mukth Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan, reinforcing the national vision of a Nasha Mukth Bharat and Viksit Bharat.

Mr. Sangamesh Sugreeva, National Coordinator, Dishabodh Sustainable Community Development Foundation, graced the occasion as the distinguished guest and addressed the gathering. He motivated students to become ambassadors against substance abuse and highlighted the vital role of youth in building a healthy, responsible and developed India.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of the management of Navodaya Education Trust and the leadership of Dr. Gurudatta S. Pawar, Dean, Navodaya Medical College. The event was coordinated by Dr. Bande Nawaz, Professor and Head, Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, who served as the Institutional Coordinator. He successfully coordinated the programme and emphasised the responsibility of future medical professionals in spreading awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promoting healthy lifestyles in society. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and a large number of MBBS students, who reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the national movement for a Nasha Mukth Bharat.

The programme concluded with a renewed pledge by all participants to work towards creating a drug-free society and contributing to the vision of a Viksit Bharat.

We are thrilled to share that North Karnataka’s first-of-its-kind Hands-on Pelvic USG Workshop was conducted successfully yesterday by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Navodaya Medical College. We had 90+ registrations with overwhelming enthusiasm from postgraduates and consultants from Raichur city and neighbouring taluqas.

Navodaya Medical College Hospital & Research Centre organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) workshop on Congenital Talipes Equinovarus (CTEV), featuring expert sessions on diagnosis, clinical evaluation, and modern management techniques for students.

The Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology successfully organized Moot Court 2026 on 11th July 2026 at 10:00 AM in the Court Room, Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, Navodaya Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Raichur.

The event was conducted under the patronage of Sri S. R. Reddy, Hon’ble Chairman, Navodaya Education Trust (NET), Raichur. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. M. Hanumanthappa, Vice Chancellor, University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, along with the other dignitaries. Dr. T. Srinivas, Registrar, Navodaya Education Trust (NET), Raichur, attended as the Guest of Honour. The programme was presided over by Dr. Gurudatta S. Pawar, Dean & Principal, Navodaya Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Raichur.

The Moot Court was organized under the guidance of Dr. Bande Nawaz, Professor & Head, Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, with the dedicated efforts of the organizing committee comprising Dr. Suraj, Associate Professor, and Dr. M. Mounika Ragini, Assistant Professor.

The event commenced with the formal inauguration and welcome of the dignitaries. The organizers highlighted the importance of Moot Court as a practical educational exercise that bridges the gap between forensic medicine and the legal system. The Chief Guest and other dignitaries appreciated the initiative and encouraged students to actively participate in such academic activities to strengthen their medico-legal knowledge, analytical abilities, and courtroom skills.

The Moot Court was conducted by MBBS students (Batch 2023), who enthusiastically portrayed various roles in a simulated courtroom. The case presentation involved examination-in-chief, cross-examination of witnesses, presentation of forensic medical evidence, interpretation of medico-legal findings, legal arguments by both the prosecution and the defence, and judicial deliberation. The students demonstrated commendable preparation, confidence, communication skills, logical reasoning, and application of forensic medicine principles throughout the proceedings.

The event witnessed active participation from undergraduate students and faculty members. It served as an effective platform for experiential learning by integrating forensic medicine with legal practice. The realistic courtroom environment encouraged critical thinking, ethical decision-making, public speaking, teamwork, and professional confidence among the participants.

The event was highly appreciated by the Chief Guest, dignitaries, and faculty members for its educational value and meticulous organization. Moot Court 2026 proved to be an enriching academic exercise that enhanced students’ understanding of the practical application of forensic medicine within the judicial system and reinforced the importance of interdisciplinary learning in competency-based medical education.

To commemorate World Blood Donor Day, a Voluntary blood donation camp was organized on 29th June 2026 at Dr. C.M. Gurumurthy Hall, NMCH&RC, Raichur from 10.00 AM to 5.00 PM by Blood Centre, Department of Pathology, Navodaya Medical College. The camp was held in collaboration with Indian Medical Association – Medical Students Network (IMA-MSN).

A role play was performed at the Hospital lobby, NMCH&RC, on the importance of voluntary non-remunerated blood donation by interns and students of BSc MLT, Navodaya Paramedical College in the hospital lobby. The play comprised three scenarios portraying the spectrum from transfusion emergencies to those patients requiring regular blood transfusions and was appreciated by all the members who attended.

The inaugural function was presided by Dean/Principal, NMC Dr. Gurudatta S. Pawar; Chief Guest for the event was Registrar, Navodaya Education Trust, Dr. T. Srinivas and Director of Operations, NET, Dr. Amruth Reddy. Vice-Principal, Professor and HOD, Department of Pathology, Dr. Aanand A. S., Incharge Medical Superintendent, NMCH&RC, Dr. Chandrika Rao; Director, IP&SA, NET, Dr. P. Vijaykumar; Medical Officer, Blood Centre, NMCH&RC, Dr. Ashraf A. Zubair, were among the other dignitaries on the dias. Dr. Srisailesh Amarkhed and Dr. Sushrit N. also graced the occasion representing IMA, Raichur branch.

The theme for the occasion was “Normalizing Voluntary Blood Donation” and “One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives.” The event served to promote promote a culture of regular blood donation among young people as a social responsibility and increase the diversity and sustainability of the blood donor pool.

Dr. T. Srinivas in his address, emphasized blood units required were in shortage of the actual needs statistically in India. He urged the members to stand by the WHO slogan of “Normalizing Voluntary Blood Donation” rather than donating as per the need. He also stressed that there is a need to understand the magnitude of requirement of blood units of over 12-15 million units per annum in our Indian society. As a responsible citizen, there should be a need to shoulder the responsibility of the community and voluntary blood donation must be a continuous and ongoing process.

Dr. Gurudatta S. Pawar in his presidential remarks expressed appreciation for the role play and advocated to promote and relay such activities at the community level. He also informed the Community Medicine department to coordinate for such noble activities. He also conveyed appreciation to the Department of Pathology and Blood Centre, NMCH&RC for conducting today’s Blood Donation Camp and urged the faculties to organize such camps frequently.

Donors with maximum number of blood donations and those who motivated students to voluntarily donate blood, were felicitated by the dignitaries.

The event also featured distribution of certificates to voluntary blood donors and prize distribution to the winners of slogan writing and reel making competitions, which were part of the motivational drive on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day 2026.

A total number of 72 units of blood were collected from the voluntary blood donors which included students and staff of Navodaya group of Institutions, Raichur. The conduction of the entire camp was highly appreciated by the authorities and deemed to be a resounding success.
