Navodaya Medical College, Raichur, organized a comprehensive Fire Safety Training Program on 9th and 10th July 2025, with the aim of fostering awareness and preparedness among faculty, staff, and students. The inaugural function was held with great enthusiasm and was marked by the presence of esteemed dignitaries and experts in fire safety.
The program began with the invitation of dignitaries onto the dais, including Dr. A S Aanand, Officiating Principal, Navodaya Medical College, Dr. T Srinivas, Registrar, Navodaya Education Trust, Raichur, Sri Ravindra Ghatge, District Fire Safety Officer, Sri Raju, Fire Safety Officer, Dr. Arun K N, Medical Superintendent, and Dr. J Mallikarjun Reddy, CEO, NMCH&RC.
The gathering was warmly welcomed by Dr. Narayanappa, Deputy RMO, who highlighted the importance of such training in a healthcare setting and formal inauguration of the event was done by dignitaries, by watering the Plant.
Delivering the keynote address, Sri Ravindra Ghatge, District Fire Safety Officer, emphasized the vital role of fire safety in hospitals and healthcare institutions. He underlined the necessity of regular training, adherence to safety protocols, and installation of appropriate fire-fighting systems. He appreciated the initiative taken by Navodaya Medical College and assured continued support from the Fire Department in strengthening emergency readiness.
Dr. T Srinivas, Registrar, NET, delivered the Chief Guest’s address, stating that fire safety is not merely a protocol but a shared responsibility. He urged all participants to take the training seriously and apply the knowledge in real-life situations to ensure the safety of all.
The Presidential Address by Dr. A S Aanand, Principal, reflected the institution’s deep commitment to fostering a culture of safety and responsibility. He acknowledged the contributions of fire safety officers and internal teams who helped bring the program to fruition.
A formal Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Narayan Pendlikal, RMO, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, organizing committee members, participants, and the media for their active involvement and support. He emphasized that such training is a crucial step toward making Navodaya a model institution in fire safety standards.
The two-day training program continued with hands-on demonstrations, evacuation drills, and sessions on fire prevention, use of fire extinguishers, and emergency response strategies.
The initiative was well-received by all attendees and served as a timely reminder of the importance of vigilance, preparedness, and teamwork in ensuring campus safety.
