Department of General Surgery at NMCH&RC

The department of General Surgery uses techniques to investigate and/or treat pathological conditions Such as disease or injury, to help improve bodily function or appearance.

The Department of Surgery provides surgical care and teaching. The Department of surgery has seven surgical units with adequate faculty and has four units and provides high quality, affordable, surgical care in the outpatient, inpatient and emergency surgical settings. Besides patient care, the department trains undergraduate and postgraduate students in Surgery. The Department provides Advanced Surgeries like “Laparoscopic Surgeries (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, diagnostic laparoscopy) Endoscopy- Upper GI (Diagnostic, Therapeutic), Colonoscopy (Diagnostic, Therapeutic). Neurosurgery and Urological Procedures are also performed on regular basis.
TchCap Interns are taught basic surgical skills like suturing, knotting, venous cut down, catheterization, etc.,

State Conference

KSC ASI CON 2013

  • Department of Surgery, Navodaya Medical College successfully hosted the 31st Annual Conference of Association of Surgeons of India, Karnataka State Chapter – KSC-ASICON 2013 in Navodaya Medical College campus from 08th to 10th Feb 2013. The surgical conference provided an excellent opportunity for the surgeons to discuss the recent innovations in surgical practice and updated their surgical skills & knowledge. This conference platform was an excellent platform for participants and they exchanged their experiences and explored new surgical ideas.
  • The organizers of KSC-ASICON 2013 had created a state of the art academic atmosphere for conducting plenary sessions, workshops, symposia, and for other conference activities. The academic deliberations are of high professional level and addressed most of the contemporary surgical issues. The conference had live surgical demonstration sessions from GEM hospital, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu and Asian Institute of Gastroentrology, Hyderabad, AP.
