Department of Ophthalmology at NMCH & RC

Ophthalmology is the branch of Medicine that deals with the diseases of the eye, and areas surrounding the eye, such as the lacrimal system and eyelids.

The department consists of two units and the staff of Ophthalmology are actively involved in developing an integrated ophthalmic care, catering to patients through various campus. Recently Navodaya Medical College has established a Skill Lab for Post Graduates to develop the skills in ophthalmic surgery.
Recently Navodaya Eye Bank Facility has been started in the department to cater the problems of corneal blindness in Raichur district and the surrounding population. Round the clock service is rendered to retrieve eyes from the deceased.

Camp

The department organizes frequent eye camp and school camps in and around Raichur.

Navodaya Eye Bank

Navodaya Eye bank was established in the year 2012. Since then the department is actively conducting the camps for promoting and encouraging eye donation. The department conducts regular camps in the nearby villages and selected cases are operated upon in the hospital with excellent results.
Separate storage facilities is also available for Eye collection.

Services of the Eye Bank

Availability of trained staff and PG’s round the clock to attend the calls.
Increase public awareness on eye donation and eye banking.
Regular visit by a corneal surgeon.
Keratoplasty surgery facilities are also available.
Evaluate and provide quality corneas to corneal surgeons.
