Navodaya Hosts Awareness Programme on Misuse of Narcotics and Drug Addiction
An impactful Awareness Programme on the “Misuse of Narcotics & Drug Addiction” was organized by the District Administration and Narcotic Co-ordination Centre Raichur, in collaboration with the Navodaya Education Trust, Raichur. The event took place at the Dr. S.R. Hegde Auditorium, Navodaya Medical College & Hospital, Raichur (NMCH&RC), and saw active participation from faculty and students of the Navodaya Group of Institutions.
The program commenced with a warm welcome to the dignitaries, followed by an invocation by Giya and Jennifer. Dr. A.S. Aanand, Vice Principal of NMC, RCR, delivered the welcome address.
The Chief Guest, Sri Nitish K, IAS, Deputy Commissioner & District Magistrate, Government of Karnataka, Raichur, officially inaugurated the event and released the second volume, first issue of “Navodaya’s Pharma Focus.” He delivered an insightful address on the urgency of addressing drug misuse among youth.
He asked faculties and students of Navodaya Group of Institutions, to participate in this initiative which speaks volumes about Navodaya s commitment to shaping a healthier and more informed society. You are the voices that will carry this message forward, fostering a culture of awareness and responsibility among your peers and beyond.
Sri Puttamadaiah M, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Raichur, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing law enforcement's role in curbing narcotic abuse. Instructed all students to install the app called “Drug Free Karnataka"
Other distinguished attendees included Dr. T. Srinivas, Registrar, Navodaya Education Trust, Raichur,
and
Sri Uday Kishore, Assistant Drug Controller, Raichur, who presented a brief and informative PowerPoint session on drug control measures and regulatory awareness.
Dr. B. Devanand, Dean and Principal of Navodaya Medical College, presided over the function and delivered presidential remarks, instructed the students to follow the guidelines put forth by the authorities not to indulge in the illicit drugs usage .
Dr. Bande Nawaz, Professor and Head, FMT & Coordinator MEU, offered the vote of thanks.
A memento presentation to dignitaries marked a gesture of gratitude, followed by informative and powerful video on “Mental health and drug addiction" was played which was prepared by Dept of Anesthesiology
Later an interesting mime show video titled “Say No to Drugs! Yes to Life,” presented by the students of Navodaya School and College of Nursing, RCR.
The programme concluded with the National Anthem, leaving the audience inspired and aware of the vital message against drug abuse.
