Guest lecture on the Step by Step Approach to Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Navodaya Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Raichur, successfully organized a Guest Lecture on 27th March 2026 at the Virtual Library, Navodaya Medical College. The programme was conducted with the objective of enhancing the academic knowledge and surgical understanding of postgraduate students, interns, undergraduate students, and faculty members in the field of minimally invasive gynaecological surgery.
The event was organized under the guidance of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and witnessed active participation from faculty members, postgraduate students, interns, and undergraduate students. The programme was presided over by Dr. Gurudatta S. Pawar, Dean and Principal, NMCH & RC, and coordinated by Dr. Sarada B., Professor and Head, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
The distinguished resource person for the programme was Dr. Jayaprakash B. Patil, renowned Laparoscopic and Pelvic Surgeon, Founder of Bettadur Group of Hospitals, and Chairman and Managing Director of Bettadur Hospital Pvt. Ltd., Raichur. The topic of the guest lecture was “Step-by-Step Approach to Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy.”
During the lecture, the speaker delivered a highly informative and practical presentation on the surgical principles and operative techniques involved in Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy (TLH). Important aspects discussed during the session included patient selection, preoperative preparation, laparoscopic pelvic anatomy, port placement, instrumentation, operative steps, intraoperative precautions, management of complications, and postoperative care. The lecture provided a detailed stepwise explanation of the procedure, which proved highly beneficial for postgraduate students and young surgeons interested in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery.
Special emphasis was placed on safe surgical practices, identification of important anatomical landmarks, prevention of ureteric and vascular injuries, and the role of surgical expertise in improving patient outcomes. The speaker also shared valuable clinical experiences and practical tips that helped participants gain deeper insight into advanced laparoscopic procedures and contemporary surgical approaches.
An interactive discussion session was conducted at the end of the lecture, during which students and faculty members actively clarified their doubts regarding operative techniques, indications for laparoscopic hysterectomy, surgical decision-making, and complication management. The session proved to be academically enriching and contributed significantly towards strengthening the surgical understanding and clinical confidence of the participants.
