Department of General Surgery conducted a Guest Lecture on August 8th, 2026 on the topic – Pediatric Minimal Invasive Surgery. It provides an understanding of modern surgical approaches used in infants and children, with advantages such as smaller incisions, reduced postoperative pain, shorter hospital stay, faster recovery, and better cosmetic outcomes.
The lecture helps understand the indications, basic principles, patient selection, instruments, port placement, anaesthetic considerations, and common procedures performed laparoscopically or thoracoscopically in children. It also familiarizes them with the technical challenges and physiological differences between paediatric and adult patients.
